Answers to questions you are probably thinking. I'm practically psychic, I know.

Do massage therapists have a code of ethics?

Yes! Massage therapists adhere to the following code:

  • We provide the best quality care to anyone that seeks our professional help.
  • We accept all clients without discrimination, with a  right to refuse service due to misconduct.
  • Sexual misconduct is punishable by law.
  • We acknowledge the confidential nature of the professional relationship with a client.
  • We Practice only the modalities in which we have been professionally trained and certified.

Will my massage be painful?

You shouldn't experience any pain throughout your massage. If at any time the techniques are causing you discomfort, ask your therapist to ease up. Good communication is key in a successful experience. The old adage of "no pain, no gain" is not relevant here. Note that after a deep tissue massage you may feel some discomfort.. but never pain. You will feel some soreness up to 24 hours after the session.

Do i take my clothes off? If so, how much of it?

For a full body massage you will be asked to undress to your comfort level (usually leaving your underwear on - women removing their bra). If you should feel the least bit uncomfortable without clothing, just tell your therapist and adjustments will be made to accommodate your modesty. NOTE: You will be fully draped during your massage. Only the body part being worked on will be visible to the therapist. your privacy and comfort are the most important thing your therapist will consider.

Should i talk during my session?

Don't feel like you have to make conversation with your therapist. After all, you are at a treatment, not a social party. If conversation is your way to relax, then a conversation is fine. In my opinion, to get the full relations of the massage, just forget the therapist is even there. Feel free to close your eyes and relax, which is what most people do. Some massages like deep tissue massage though will require feedback, ensuring the pressure isn't uncomfortable. Be sure to speak up if the room is too hot/cold; you experience any pain; or you have questions.

what should i do during the massage?

During the massage make yourself comfortable. The therapist will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session. To get the full benefit of the massage, it is best to just close your eyes and completely relax, communicating if/when you need more/less pressure, another blanket, or anything else you may need. Otherwise, "unplug" from the world for an hour. Try not to think about work, the kids, your spouse, the bills or any other stressor. Giver yourself permission to relax and enjoy yourself.

Do I tip my therapist?

I own my massage business so I don't require tips. They are never expected but always appreciated.
